New Style Travel Zip Up Case
The all new Eagle Ray is housed in a 41MM 316L stainless steel brushed case with a chamfered polished line running up and down the case. It is also relatively true to size and does wear like a 41MM watch in my eyes with a wingspan distance of a very modest 47MM. In terms of thickness we are looking at 13MM, while the 20MM lug width stays quite normal and works well as most 40-41MM cases are equipped with 20MM lugs to keep things in ratio to the case. The brushed finish is rather smooth and certainly the best I have seen so far from any of the Phoibos watches. A new element we have yet to see is the pog shaped 120 click unidrectional bezel with a black lumed BGW9 ceramic insert. These new design elements are surprising and shows Phoibos innovation to produce even higher quality unique timepieces at an affordable price, this model well under $500 at $359 USD. I did note the bezel action is super tough and robust with zero backplay nor alignment issues on my example. Heading over to the medium sized crown, I found great grip with zero wobble or issues. The crown is signed and done in a matte finish with a new starfish logo it appears to be. In case you were wondering, yes this is a true dive watch with 300M of water resistance and screwed down crown and caseback. There should be no issues if you wanted to pop this one over the wetsuit and jump in the ocean as it seems very well built.
