Rumoe Nobel Royal Automatic Watch Review - Hailing from Sweden

Picture

Rumoe is another new microbrand with origins in Sweden and they got their first model funded through kickstarter, the Nobel. The watch comes in a few different variations including dial colors and strap options. The model I have for review is a white dial with a brown embossed genuine calf leather strap.

You can use code WA20 to save 20% at checkout on www.Rumoe.com
( I do not make money from this )

$399.99 - 20% = $319.20

Packaging

The Nobel arrived within 2 days VIA DHL and was securely packaged inside a box which contains a nice black lacqeur finish and a cushion inside as well. The box is actually really nice for the price of the watch and considering they are a smaller brand.

Case

Picture
When we think of dress watches, we want something thin, light, and no larger than 40MM. The nobel does that just perfectly with a slender 11.5MM thick brushed/polished 316L case measuring in at 40MM. The watch is rather light, and that is not a bad thing considering it wears quite comfortable on my 6.5 inch wrist and can definitely slip under a cuff if necessary.
The signed crown is pull/push and Rumoe states 50M of water resistance which basically means you cannot take this watch swimming but one should not be afraid if the watch gets wet or happens to fall in the sink. A genuine sapphire crystal hovers the white dial and is most definitely flat. The sides of the case are brushed while the top portions of the case including the smooth bezel and lugs are done in a high polish. The lugs are rather thin and with that this watch can wear like a true 40MM timepiece, no bigger.

Dial

Picture
The pure white dial contains applied silver polished markers with an applied Rumoe logo below the 12:00 position. The dauphine hands certainly match the overall dress aesthetic here and are cut quite precise and sharp. The slender seconds sweeping hand does not look out of place either. I would most certainly call this a traditional dress watch style and something that will not go out of style.

Movement

Picture
Equipped in the Nobel is the ever so well known Seiko NH35 date movement. This movement needs no introduction and is seen across the board from hundreds if not thousands of brands. It contains 24 Jewels and beats at 3 hertz or 21,600 BPH. The best feature is the hand wind capability and hacking seconds for a precise timeset. In terms of accuracy, my Nobel has been gaining around 3-5 seconds a day over course of a week which is more than acceptable.

Leather Strap on Butterfly clasp

The brown embossed 20MM band that comes standard with your Nobel is not bad at all. It is rather thin which allows for a comfortable wear but it in no way flimsy. Attached to the strap is a signed butterfly clasp with an easy adjustment slide. This allows us to adjust the band on the fly within seconds. “RUMOE” Is signed on the clasp as well for branding purposes.

Conclusion

Furthermore, this watch is your typical dress watch or 9-5 work watch that won’t let you down. It gets the job done and will last quite a long time with its current specifications and movement. The price tag initially stunned me as $400 is a bit much for this timepiece , ( they are a new smaller brand so we do have to take that into consideration ) BUT you can save 20% with the code WA20 which brings it down to a more reasonable $319 USD. If your a simple man and need a simple automatic, reliable, everyday work watch - the Rumoe Nobel can definitely fill that need. Also, if the code does expire and you are reading this I noticed you can save 10% by signing up to their newsletter on the website.

The main component of a mechanical movement is the mainspring, a spring that gradually unwinds and transmits energy. A mechanical watch will keep accurate time despite requiring winding up if it's manual. ... Inside an automatic watch sits a small weighted rotor that has to oscillate in order to wind the mainspring.
