Tudor Heritage Black Bay Red Watch Review 2018 Model 7R230R

Case and Dial

Picture
The Tudor ( Black Dial ) BB Red is housed in a 41MM case comprised of stainless steel, but 316L unlike the 904L surgical grade we see in Rolex models. The watch for the most part is finely brushed besides the flanks of the case and the slight chamfered ends of the lugs, which is a nice touch. The thickness is always what ruins the black bay for me, as well as the new Black Bay GMT “Pepsi”, coming in at 14.5MM (50 tip to tip ), too thick and a bit too long for my wrist. The dial
is brilliant combining vintage tudor aesthetic with modern materials such as the beautiful domed sapphire crystal, large rose gold lumed snowflake hands, and legible applied lumed markers. Our screw down rose signed large crown is located at 3:00 and is functions with ease. The grip on the crown is quite good as well considering there are no crown guards integrated. The lug width comes in at 22MM and there is no problem throwing this on a rubber or nato strap to breeze around the beach with the 200M of water resistance this case can withstand. On another note, the anodized red/burgundy bezel insert fits the aesthetic and looks much better than aluminum of course. I did also notice that the unidirectional click bezel is buttery smooth, almost close to a submariner - but not quite THAT good.

Rivet Bracelet

The rivet style steel brushed bracelet has polished sides and is adjusted by screw pins. The clasp is very neat and compact with a tudor brand signature and milled polished inner clasp. The comfort level is certainly there and I like it.

Conclusion

Tudor makes some really good watches for the money, and most will agree with me. I do also agree that this is no substitute for a Submariner. Tudors mission stated by Hans Wilsdorf ( Rolex Creator ) was to provide a brand of watches that were as reliable as Rolex watches at an affordable price. Having said that, I believe Tudor is getting closer to the quality of modern Rolex watches bit by bit, year by year. We now have a COSC certified in-house movement with a power reserve matching the latest Rolex engines. I can reccomend this watch, but you DO have to have the wrist for it. It does wear much biggee than a ceramic submariner and is a bit heavier. I hope you enjoyed my article and please check out all of the other wonderful content my site has to offer.

The main component of a mechanical movement is the mainspring, a spring that gradually unwinds and transmits energy. A mechanical watch will keep accurate time despite requiring winding up if it's manual. ... Inside an automatic watch sits a small weighted rotor that has to oscillate in order to wind the mainspring.
